Punjab govt freezes properties, assets of banned religious group

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Punjab government has issued orders to freeze all properties and assets of the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) across the province.

According to an official notification from the Punjab Home Department, authorities have been instructed to collect detailed information on all TLP-owned properties and assets and submit a comprehensive report to the department by November 15.

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Chairman of the Sub-Cabinet Committee. Following the meeting, Secretary Home Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi issued formal directives to commissioners, deputy commissioners, Board of Revenue, Secretary Housing, Secretary Cooperative, and other relevant departments to implement the orders.

The move comes after the TLP was declared banned under the Anti-Terrorism Act, making it illegal to hold or manage any organizational assets. The provincial government’s action aims to ensure that all financial and non-financial assets of the organization are immediately frozen to prevent any misuse.

Officials confirmed that the notification covers properties, bank accounts, and any other movable or immovable assets registered in the name of TLP. Departments have been asked to maintain strict compliance and report their findings within the stipulated timeline.
