RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Iraqi Air Force commander Lieutenant General Muhammad Ghalib Muhammad Radi Al-Asadi called on General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), at Joint Staff Headquarters during his official visit to Pakistan on Wednesday.

The high-level meeting centred on the evolving global and regional geo-strategic landscape and the pressing need for closer cooperation between the two nations, according to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defence and security collaboration, underscoring its significance for regional peace and stability.

The two military leaders discussed a wide range of issues, including avenues for expanding military-to-military ties and enhancing strategic coordination. The dialogue highlighted the shared vision of Iraq and Pakistan in working together for sustainable security in the region.

The visiting Iraqi commander expressed deep appreciation for the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces. He lauded their achievements and sacrifices in combating terrorism, as well as their sustained efforts to promote peace across the region.

Upon arrival at Joint Staff Headquarters, Lt-Gen Al-Asadi was received with full military honours. A smartly turned-out tri-services contingent presented a Guard of Honour, marking the ceremonial significance of the visit and reaffirming the strong defence ties between the two brotherly nations.
