ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a telephone call on Thursday from President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property caused by devastating floods across Pakistan.

The Turkish president assured his country’s solidarity with the people of Pakistan during this time of hardship.

President Erdogan conveyed his condolences on the tragic scale of destruction and reaffirmed Turkiye’s readiness to provide all possible assistance. He emphasised that his country stood prepared to support Pakistan in any way, including the ongoing rescue and relief operations.

PM Shehbaz thanked the Turkish leader for his kind words and generous offer of help. He said the call reflected the long-standing, fraternal ties between the two nations, built on a history of supporting each other during moments of crisis.

Shehbaz Sharif noted that Pakistan and Turkiye had consistently stood shoulder to shoulder in difficult times. He highlighted that this exchange of sentiments was another example of the depth of friendship between the two countries.

Erdogan reiterated Turkiye’s willingness to provide support wherever required, particularly in relief operations for flood-affected communities. His assurance followed Pakistan’s extensive losses in both human lives and infrastructure due to recent flooding.

Both leaders also recalled their earlier discussions this year and spoke about their upcoming meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Tianjin, China.
