LAHORE (Dunya News) – Dozens of villages came under water and hundreds of acres of crops were destroyed after India released water in River Sutlej on Saturday.

A high-level flood was reported at Ganda Singh Wala, where water reached above 20 feet, cutting off 30 villages from land connections. The district administration stepped up relief efforts and established relief camps at schools. In Arifwala, a child drowned in floodwater.

India has once again released water River Sutlej, causing a significant rise in water level.

In Ganda Singh Wala area, the water level has risen by 21 feet, prompting an accelerated evacuation of flood-affected people. Rescue personnel and boats have been called in from other districts to assist.

In Bahawalpur, thousands of acres of agricultural land have been submerged due to the rising water level at Head Islam.

In Bahawalnagar, temporary embankments have broken, resulting in damage to crops.
