PM contacts political leaders, assures full support amid flood crisis

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday contacted the leaders of different political parties and assured them of full support to handle the situation caused by monsoon floods.
He held telephonic conversation with Pakistan People's Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and expressed grief over the loss of lives caused by the torrential rains and urban flooding in parts of Sindh, particularly Karachi.
He offered full support from the federal government to assist the Sindh government in addressing the emergency situation.
PM Shehbaz directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) chairman to stay in close coordination with the Sindh government and provide all possible assistance to provincial authority, He also called for ensuring the early warnings to the people about potential risks by monsoon rains and urban flooding.
The premier also telephoned Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman and Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.
Talking to Hafiz Naeem, the prime minister appreciated Al-Khidmat Foundation’s proactive role in rescue and relief operations following disaster by floods and cloudburst in the region.
He also discussed with Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui the recent rains and flood situation in Sindh, as well as potential risks from expected rainfall, assuring full cooperation from NDMA and other federal departments to handle the situation.
