Floods in KP: 1,800 active rescuers recover 300 bodies

Over 5,210 people have been rescued across the province.
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Rescue 1122 Director General, Tayyab Abdullah, has said that 1,800 rescuers are actively working in rain and flood-hit areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where 300 out of 313 bodies have been recovered so far.
Addressing a press conference, he stated that the province has 176 rescue stations, while 60 additional points have been set up along riverbanks. The number of divers has increased to 246, and over 5,210 people have been rescued across the province.
He warned that in Buner around 150 people are feared trapped under debris, while similar fears exist in Shangla. Rescue workers from nearby districts have been dispatched to assist.

The DG added that vehicles stranded in Punjab are urgently needed in KP, appealing to the Punjab government to play the role of an “elder brother” in this critical time.
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider during a press briefing on the damages caused by rain and flooding said that several communities in Gilgit and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been cut off from the rest of the country after land sliding damaged roads. Relief supplies and food would be provided to the people in the affected districts, he continued.
