US acknowledges Pakistan's success in combating terrorism, pledges to work together

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan and the United States reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating all forms of terrorism in a joint statement issued after the counterterrorism dialogue.

According to the statement released by the US Embassy in Islamabad, the counterterrorism dialogue between Pakistan and the United States was co-chaired by Nabeel Munir and Gregory D. LoGerfo.

The statement said both sides reiterated their determination to combat all forms of terrorism and emphasized addressing the threats posed by the BLA (Balochistan Liberation Army), ISIS-Khorasan, and the TTP (Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan).

In the joint statement, the US acknowledged Pakistan’s successes in controlling terrorist activities and expressed condolences over the loss of lives in incidents such as the Jaffer Express attack and the Khuzdar school bus attack.

The statement also noted that both sides agreed to address security challenges and the use of emerging technologies in terrorism. They emphasized strengthening institutional frameworks and building capacity.

The statement mentioned a reaffirmation of close cooperation on multilateral forums, including the United Nations, and stressed the importance of sustained and structured engagement for eliminating terrorism and ensuring peace and stability.

The United States has officially designated the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and the Majeed Brigade Group as terrorist organisations.
