ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has taken strict notice of a highly disturbing incident involving a cockroach found in food served at the Parliament cafeteria.

As a result, the cafeteria management's contract has been immediately cancelled.

According to sources, the National Assembly spokesperson confirmed the cancellation of the contract following the Speaker’s orders. The incident sparked outrage among parliamentarians, who were deeply concerned about the poor hygiene and cleanliness standards at the facility.

The Speaker did not just stop there – he also called off the contract that covered food services for parliamentary staff, making it clear that such negligence won’t be tolerated.

Assembly officials revealed that the incident took place about 10 days ago, but the matter gained public attention recently after a video went viral on social media.

The video, recorded by a member of the assembly, showed several cockroaches crawling near pieces of bread served in the cafeteria.

The footage triggered strong reactions from lawmakers, many of whom expressed serious concern over the unsanitary conditions in the cafeteria and lobby areas.

In response to the backlash, the Assembly administration has awarded the food services contract to a new contractor with a clean reputation, hoping to turn things around and restore trust.

This incident has put the spotlight on basic cleanliness issues even in high-profile government buildings.
