PNS SAHIWAL: Pakistan Navy launches indigenously designed gun boat in Karachi

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The launching ceremony of PNS SAHIWAL, a newly designed gun boat of the Pakistan Navy, was held at Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW) on Thursday.

Vice Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami graced the event as chief guest, according to Directorate General Public Relations Navy. The vessel has been indigenously designed by the Platform Design Wing of the Pakistan Navy and is currently under construction at KS&EW.

Vice Admiral Bilgrami appreciated the collaborative efforts of the Navy’s design wing and KS&EW in advancing the Navy’s indigenisation policy. He also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Defence Production (MoDP) for its consistent support to KS&EW.

He highlighted that PNS SAHIWAL is equipped to undertake a wide range of maritime security tasks.

The gun boat features high-performance, long-range semi-automatic guns, significantly enhancing its mission effectiveness. The Navy is also considering the series production of similar vessels to accelerate self-reliance and further strengthen KS&EW.
