NEW YORK (Dunya News) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has emphasized that peaceful resolution of conflicts is only possible through dialogue and adherence to international law.

He stated that Pakistan remains committed to the principles of peaceful dispute resolution as outlined in the United Nations Charter.

Speaking at a reception hosted by Pakistan’s Mission in New York, Ishaq Dar said Pakistan has chosen three key priorities for its presidency of the UN Security Council: peaceful resolution of conflicts, promotion of multilateral cooperation, and strengthening collaboration between the UN and regional organizations such as the OIC.

He noted that Pakistan is honored to hold the presidency of the Security Council this month. Pakistan’s foreign policy, he added, is rooted in mutual respect, shared interests, and cooperative engagement, all aligned with the principles of the UN Charter.

Dar stressed that peaceful conflict resolution and avoiding the use of force are essential for a just global order. He pointed out that long-standing disputes exist in nearly every region, often accompanied by unilateral interests and violations of international law. Only through dialogue and respect for international norms can lasting peace be achieved.

Highlighting the role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), he said the 57-member bloc plays a crucial role in global peace. Pakistan is working in collaboration with UN member states toward shared goals of peace and development and is actively contributing to global environmental protection efforts.

He further stated that Pakistan is committed to strengthening the three pillars of the United Nations—peace, development, and human rights—and supports efforts to make the UN more effective and responsive.

Concluding his address, Dar remarked that the world is currently facing deep divisions and complex challenges. To overcome these, nations must prioritize diplomacy over confrontation and cooperation over the use of force. Pakistan, he affirmed, remains committed to achieving common objectives.
