DERA GHAZI KHAN (Dunya News) - The Punjab Police on Saturday foiled second terrorist attack in a week at Punjab-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border checkpost.

According to the spokesperson of Punjab Police, around 15 to 20 terrorists attacked the Lakhani border checkpost in Dera Ghazi Khan in the wee hours of Saturday.

The terrorists used rocket launcher and other heavy weapons in the attack.

The attack was thwarted due to the timely response of Punjab Police, said the spokesperson.

The operation was led by DG Khan RPO Capt (retd) Sajjad Hassan Khan.

IGP Dr Usman Anwar lauded the bravery of Punjab Police and said that they have foiled 19 terrorist attacks so far.

“The officials of Punjab Police were equipped with modern arms and weapons and therefore they managed to foil the attack,” IGP Dr Usman Anwar said.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the Punjab Police for successfully thwarting the attack on Lakhani border checkpost in Dera Ghazi Khan.

In his message, the minister lauded the bravery of the police, stating that they courageously foiled the terrorist attack and defended the checkpost.

He emphasised that DG Khan police have consistently demonstrated resilience against such threats in the past as well.

Naqvi lauded the professional response of the Punjab Police, asserting that they gave a strong reply to the terrorists and foiled their nefarious plans.

He extended congratulations to the entire police team for their efforts and expressed pride in their dedication and professionalism.
