SC orders ECP to complete voters lists by Feb 23

The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered the ECP to complete voters list by Feb 23.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the petition of PTI chief Imran Khan regarding preparation of voters’ lists.The Chief Justice directed the Election Commission to complete voters’ lists by February 23. Secretary Election Commission told the court that the voters’ lists would be completed till June 2011.The CJ remarked it seems that the lists would not be completed even after two years.Justice Tariq asked if the elections are held in March, would the new Parliament be formed with bogus votes.The CJP said that the action will be taken against Secretary Election Commission for deliberately delaying preparation of voters lists.The court had earlier asked the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to submit reports regarding voters lists today.
