The veteran politician decries absence of rule of law in the country
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - Awami Muslim League head Sheikh Rashid has once again urged COAS Gen Asim Munir to announce amnesty for May 9 suspects as 90pc of them have nothing to do with violence.
He regretted that there was no rule of law, democracy or implementation of the constitution across the country.
Speaking to media, he reiterated that he was indignant at the "40-day seclusion". He said there was no eyewitness against him among 94 witnesses of the May 9 incident.
He berated the leaders for travelling abroad and leaving the public to fend for themselves in smog.
As for the possibility of release of Imran Khan, he said the PTI founder would be released as per Allah’s will but his popularity couldn’t be diminished despite all possible tactics by opponents.
Rashid emphasised that the PML-N and PPP couldn’t win the hearts of the public, though people were silent. The leaders, he said, had dug their own graves in politics.
He asked the Punjab government to grant fee concessions to students as parents were unable to send their children to schools due to financial constraints. "This has led to decrease in enrolment," he added.
“I already predicted the victory of Donald Trump in the US election," the former federal minister said.
He said he was observing the global situation and that of Gaza. "Iran and China have directed their armies to stay alert and prepared," he said.
