ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - In his fiery speech during NA session convened on Sunday night to pass 26th constitutional bill, PPP Bilawal Bhutto said judiciary played a frontline role in protecting dictatorship and its role in prolonging the rule of dictators was not hiding from anyone.

“It is the judiciary who hanged an elected prime minister, snatched the power of appointing judges from elected Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto in 1996 under the notion how a woman could appoint a judge,” the PPP chairman said.

Reprimanding the judiciary, Bilawal said the court of former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry was actually Kala Nag (black snake).

“Judiciary removed two elected PMs one for not writing a letter and the other for not taking salary from his son.

“When we gave scarifies for democracy and getting rid of dictators then judiciary remembered freedom of courts and supremacy of law. Where the judges had been when dictators were attacking democracy,” the PPP leader said.

He added that judiciary allowed dictator Gen Musharraf to contest presidential elections in uniform, adding it protected dictatorship.

“Judges used their authority for safeguarding dictators. Judiciary took 58-2 B in its hand to weaken parliament. It protected dictatorship of Gen Ziaul Haq,” the PPP chairman said.
