ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar hoped that JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman would play his role in bringing consensus on constitutional amendment.

He was talking to media in Islamabad along with the PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi.

Speaking on the occasion, Atta Tarar said that the process of political consultation was underway and the government was trying to develop a consensus on the proposed amendment.

He added that the participation of all the political parties in consultation process is the beauty of democracy.

“The government is giving preference to political consensus despite having the required majority to pass the constitutional amendment,” Tarar said.

The minister was of the view that it was the national duty of the incumbent government to take all the parties on board.

He added that the efforts were afoot to complete the consultation process on Saturday in any case.

According to Hanif Abbasi, the government condemns the politics of agitation and believes in complete freedom of political consultation for all the political parties.

He said that no one would be allowed to weaken the state institutions and challenge the writ of the government.
