Nationwide protests have risen during the past few days on account of heavy unannounced load-shedding across the country. Locals of Shujahbad attacked the office of WAPDA and after much destruction burnt all the records present there.The locals entered through the main entrance and apart from breaking all the doors shattered all the windows of the office. The protestors threw stones at the XEN and other staff members. The police reached the spot after one and half hour. While talking to the media SP Admin Multan said that police were not informed about the incident by any of the WAPDA employees. However, the XEN said that they had tried t contact the police officials a number of times but there was no solid response from their side. A similar protest took place in Mianwali where locals surrounded the WAPDA central office and shouted slogans against the government. The protestors blocked the traffic on Khalil Chowk. While addressing the locals the speakers tried to convince the government on the continuation of the Kalabagh Dam project. Protests took place in other parts of the country as well including Chakwal, Dera Ismael Khan, Sahiwal, Wabaari, Okara,and Charisdah.
