ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Supreme Court withdrew its previous judgements in the high-profile Mubarak Sani case, following objections raised by religious scholars.

According to the court’s latest ruling, an application was submitted by the federal government and the Punjab government on July 24.

The applications sought corrections in the earlier judgements. Notices were subsequently issued to 19 prominent scholars, who raised concerns about specific paragraphs - 7, 42, and 49 - in the judgements issued on Feb 6 and July 24.

According to the latest order, after reviewing the scholars’ objections and hearing the arguments, the court decided to remove the paragraphs. As a result, the earlier judgements were retracted.

The final order also said the trial court had been directed to proceed with the bail case independently.
