Establishment Division directs 150,000 posts cut across grades 1 to 22
Pakistan
No new posts be created until downsizing process is complete
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Establishment Division on Friday issued a memo to all federal ministries, divisions, and departments, requiring them to stop the creation of new posts as part of an ongoing downsizing initiative.
In a move aimed at streamlining government operations, the Establishment Division decided not to issue the No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for recruitment to new or vacant positions until the completion of the right-sizing process.
Federal ministries and departments were instructed to eliminate 60% of existing vacancies, targeting a reduction of 150,000 posts across Grades 1 to 22.
Presently, there are over 1.1 million sanctioned posts within federal ministries, divisions, and departments.
The order also mandates that all posts which had remained vacant for several years, be abolished. The Establishment Division stressed that no new posts should be created until the downsizing process is fully completed.
