ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Islamabad High Court on Thursday nullified the Election Commission of Pakistan‘s (ECP) decision to change IHC Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri.

IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq announced reserved verdict of the case pertaining to change of election tribunal and the Election Act Amendment Bill.

The court sent the matter back to the ECP while directing the latter to come up with another verdict.

Justice Farooq also annulled the order of the ECP to appoint Justice Shakoor Paracha as a judge of the election tribunal.

It must be noted that the ECP had appointed the retired judge in the election tribunal to which the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders had approached the IHC and filed a petition against the appointment of the retired judge.

It is worth remembering that PTI leaders Shoaib Shaheen, Amir Mughal and Ali Bukhari had submitted the petition in this regard.
