LHC seeks report on Punjab govt's decision to file fresh cases against Imran Khan

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Lahore High Court on Monday sought a report on a petition challenging the Punjab cabinet’s decision to file new cases against former prime minister Imran Khan.
A two-judge bench, headed by Justice Aalia Neelum, heard the petition.
Advocate Latif Khosa appeared in court on behalf of Imran Khan.
During the proceedings, the court asked Latif Khosa, Imran Khan's counsel, if he had been provided with all the information.
Khosa replied in the negative.
The state lawyer then informed the court that the meeting had taken place, but the document still needed to be signed, a process which would take two to three days.
Subsequently, the court adjourned the hearing until June 27.
In the plea, the PTI founder has requested the court to declare the Punjab cabinet’s decision to pursue legal action against him and party leaders “without lawful authority and of no legal consequence in the interest of justice”.
In May, the Punjab cabinet approved fresh legal action against Imran Khan and other PTI leaders for their alleged involvement in propagating a 'narrative of hate' against state institutions, particularly the army.
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari stated that the Punjab cabinet had approved legal action against the former Prime Minister and his party leaders for promoting a hate narrative against state institutions.
