Death toll in Hyderabad cylinder explosion climbs to 23

Eight critically injured persons are still under treatment in Karachi.
KARACHI (Dunya News) - The death toll from explosion at liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder filling shop in Preetabad area of Hyderabad climbed to 23 on Wednesday as two more injured succumbed to their wounds during treatment at a hospital in Karachi, Dunya News reported.
According to sources, the deceased were identified as 13-year-old Mahnoor and 4-year-old Haram.
It may be mentioned here that a heavy explosion occurred in a cylinder filling shop in Hyderabad on Thursday. Sources said that the initial explosion caused other cylinders in the shop to explode as well.
After the explosions, fire erupted in several nearby homes as a result more than 60 people including women and children sustained injuries.
The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Hyderabad, but due to inadequate facilities, more than 30 critically injured people were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi. Hospital sources informed that 23 of these patients died, while eight are still under treatment in Karachi.
