KARACHI (Dunya News) - Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, Jamaat-e-Islami's Karachi emir, has expressed dissatisfaction over blatant disregard for public opinion in the Feb 8 polls.

He questioned the transparency and fairness of the polls. He alleged that the elections had been rigged, a sentiment echoed by international media and the global community.

Naeemur Rehman also cast doubt on the victory of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) candidates, claiming that the party was "selected" before the polls took place.

He took a swipe at PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif that despite returning to conquer, he couldn't secure victory in his constituency.

He, however, said the party workers would not block roads or create inconvenience for the public. He pledged to exercise their constitutional right to peaceful protest against rigging.

He emphasised that the JI would protest as a gesture of respect for the public opinion.
