PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - As many as 16 candidates from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have filed pleas challenging the Feb 8 poll results in court. 

According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), independent candidates have challenged the results of three national and 13 provincial constituencies in KP.

The results of NA-28 Peshawar, NA-11 Shangla, and NA-40 North Waziristan have been challenged. 

Peshawar has become a focal point of contention, with pleas challenging results of eight provincial constituencies - PK-20, PK-21, PK-73, PK-74, PK-75, PK-78, PK-79, PK-80, and PK-82.

Meanwhile, polls result of two constituencies in Bannu, PK-101 and PK-102, also have been challenged in court as independent candidates reject the outcome. 

The ECP stated that independent candidates had contested the results and submitted applications in court.

Many candidates across the country have alleged rigging in the general election.
