ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - In a last-ditch effort, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder has approached the Supreme Court seeking permission to contest the upcoming elections on two constituencies.
The move comes as his nomination papers for NA-89 (Mianwali) and NA-122 (Lahore) constituencies were rejected, prompting him to challenge the decision.
The PTI founder has filed appeals in the apex court against the rejection of his nomination papers for the polls scheduled for Feb 8.
In the petition submitted to court, it was argued that the convictions against him lacked moral grounds, and it was deemed unlawful to disqualify him from participating in the elections.
The petition sought annulment of the decision made by the Lahore High Court on Jan 16 and called for the acceptance of PTI founder's nomination papers for NA-89.
The plea insisted that the founder of PTI should be permitted to contest the polls on Feb 8 and be granted an electoral symbol.
The nomination papers of the PTI founder for Lahore and Mianwali constituencies were rejected, preventing him from entering the electoral race due to various charges against him.
