Don't speculate about elections, warns Solangi
Pakistan
said that accreditation cards have been issued to more than 6,000 observers and journalists
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi on Tuesday forbade from speculating about the elections.
Addressing a press conference here along with Information Secretary Shahira Shahid and senior officials of the Ministry of Information, he said that the Election Commission has issued a code of conduct for the elections.
Foreign media representatives have started arriving in the country to cover the elections, he added.
He said that 49 visas have already been issued to observers and foreign journalists. Twenty-four applications of New Delhi High Commission are under consideration for visas, he stated.
The minister said that the visas of 25 observers from the UK and eight from Russia are in process while applications from Canada and Japan are also under consideration.
The caretaker minister said that accreditation cards have been issued to more than 6,000 observers and journalists. Permits have also been issued to the observers for Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
In such a situation, it is highly unethical to speculate [elections will be held or not], he concluded.
