Seven terrorists eliminated, weapons seized in Zhob: ISPR
Pakistan
Operation carried out in an area along the Pak-Afghan border
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News/Web Desk) – Seven terrorists were killed in Zhob district of Balochistan near the Pak-Afghan border as security forces raided the area on receiving information about their presence, the Inter-Services Public Relations said on Monday.
Sharing the details, the military’s media wing said a large quantity of weapons and ammunition was also seized after the security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation.
The eliminated militants were involved in terrorist activities, including attacks on officials and law enforcers as well as killing innocent citizens.
A search operation was in progress to clear the area, the ISPR said, adding that the security forces would take every effort to establish the state writ and ensure national security.
Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been witnessed a surge in terrorism acts in recent months after different nationalist groups and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) based across the western borders intensified their attacks.
Earlier this month, the interior ministry had informed the Senate that the TTP reorganised itself during the peace talks, adding that recruitment training of suicide bombers in the merged tribal districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after the return of terrorist organisation was an alarming development.
Zhob not only borders Afghanistan in the west but also South Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the north. Its location is quite significant given the fact that the southern parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have again become a centre of terrorism activities after the PTI government launched the disastrous peace talks with the TTP.
