Pakistan, China agree to bolster cooperation in diverse fields under CPEC
ISLAMABAD (APP) – Pakistan and China have agreed to intensify their focus on high-quality advancements in industry, agriculture, information technology, and science and technology sectors, ensuring tangible socio-economic benefits for their people through the evolution of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
This consensus was reached during the 4th meeting of the CPEC Joint Working Group on International Cooperation and Coordination (JWG-ICC).
Co-chaired by Pakistan's Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi and China's Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sun Weidong, the meeting exemplified the commitment of both nations to foster international cooperation and coordination.
The progress made since the third meeting of the Joint Working Group in July 2022 was reviewed with satisfaction.
The meeting highlighted CPEC's pioneering role in strengthening international and regional connectivity, appreciating its open and inclusive nature.
Reaffirming the strong ties between Pakistan and China as all-weather strategic cooperative partners, the foreign secretary stressed the significance of CPEC in promoting win-win cooperation and sustainable development. He also encouraged interested third parties to explore mutually beneficial avenues of cooperation.
Both sides rejected disinformation campaigns and distorted reporting on CPEC, emphasising the need to counter fallacious narratives and misinformation.
Recalling discussions from previous Pakistan-China think tanks forums, they expressed joint support for media and think tank cooperation.
The agreement extended to sharing best practices and generating an intellectual knowledge pool on CPEC and Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) development through enhanced international communication and cooperation.
