Electricity tariff likely to increase by Rs1.30 per unit

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Inflation continues to load people as the price of electricity may further increase by Rs 1.30 per unit to add the burden of Rs 22.56 billion.

The electricity companies have applied to quarterly adjustments to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra).

The companies have requested Nepra to approve a collection of Rs12.12 billion as capacity payment and an additional Rs4.61 billion for repair and operation expenses.

Sources disclose that Rs6.61 billion will be collected for electricity theft and line losses, while Rs10.24 billion will be collected for electricity system usage.

Nepra will hear the power companies' petition on Nov 14.
