ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Former first lady Bushra Bibi, who is also the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, was granted bail by an Islamabad accountability court on Monday in relation to the 190-million-pound Al-Qadir Trust and Toshakhana cases.

She had fear of arrest in the National Crime Agency (NCA) £190m and Toshakhana cases. That's why she had sought bail before arrest.

Duty Judge Raja Jawad Abbas heard the proceedings and, after hearing arguments from Bushra Bibi's lawyer, Latif Khosa, granted her bail until October 31 against two surety bonds worth Rs 500,000 each.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had initiated an investigation against ex-PM, his wife, and others for alleged irregularities related to the Al Qadir University Trust, which was believed to have caused a loss of 190 million pounds to the national exchequer.

The charges revolved around the adjustment of Rs50 billion (equivalent to 190 million pounds at the time) sent by Britain's National Crime Agency (NCA) to the government.
