Bushra Bibi meets PTI chief in Attock jail

ATTOCK (Dunya News) – Bushra Bibi, the former first lady, met her husband (PTI chief) in Attock jail on Thursday.

This was their first encounter since his arrest on August 5 in relation to the Toshakhana case.

Accompanied by the legal representatives of the former prime minister, Bushra Bibi arrived at Attock jail, where she was granted permission to meet her husband. The meeting between the two lasted approximately one hour and was conducted privately, excluding the presence of Bushra Bibi's legal team.

However, Naeem Panjotha, Sher Afzal Marwat, and Ali Ijaz Buttar, the lawyers, were not granted access to the incarcerated former prime minister, who was ousted from power through a vote of no-confidence in April last year.

According to Panjotha, permission for Bushra Bibi's meeting with the PTI chief was obtained from the Islamabad High Court (IHC). Despite presenting court orders, the legal team was unable to secure permission to meet the PTI chairman and had to remain outside the jail premises.

The former prime minister was apprehended from his residence in Zaman Park, Lahore, following his conviction in the Toshakhana case.

Additional and Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar, in his verdict, affirmed the charges of misdeclaring assets against the PTI chairman. The judge sentenced the former PM to three years in prison, issued arrest warrants, and imposed a fine of Rs100,000.
