PHC judge censures police officials' conduct
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Asad Qaiser, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and former National Assembly speaker, on Friday sought refuge in the Peshawar High Court to avoid arrest.
Despite having obtained bail in all cases, police presence was observed in the vicinity of court.
Asad Qaiser, along with other MNAs from the Tehreek-e-Insaf, confined themselves to the premises of the Peshawar High Court for two hours.
Additionally, former MPA Rangiz Khan from Swabi has been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Department immediately upon leaving the high court despite having obtained bail orders.
Lawyers from the Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF), including Shah Faisal Usmankhel, appeared in the court of Justice Ejaz Anwar and stated that Rangiz Khan's arrest violated the court's order and they are making efforts to prevent further arrests.
In response, the court directed the CCPO Peshawar to appear before it.
However, the SSP Coordination appeared on behalf of the CCPO and explained that he could not attend as he was engaged in the martyrs day.
The Peshawar High Court reminded the authorities that the presence of police was for security and not for making arrests, emphasising that arrests should not be made in defiance of court orders.
