US backs free and fair elections in Pakistan: State Department

State Department spokesperson said that US supports direct dialogue between Pakistan and India.
WASHINGTON (Dunya News) - State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller while briefing the media in Washington on Wednesday said that the United States supports free and fair elections in Pakistan.
“We do not take positions on behalf of the United States supporting one candidate or another in other countries. We support free and open and fair elections,” Matthew Miller said.
Commenting on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif statement that Pakistan is ready to talk to India on bilateral problems if India is willing to address serious matters, the State Department spokesperson said that US supports direct dialogue between Pakistan and India on issues of concern.
