Shahzada, Suleman Dawood's family announces virtual prayers

(Web Desk) - Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman tragically perished in the recent Titan submarine disaster in Canadian waters and the Dawood family revealed on Monday that they would hold a virtual prayer meeting in their honour.

The father-and-son duo, along with three other crew members, and Stockton Rush - CEO of OceanGate, a company that organises deep-sea excursions - had set out on a trip to explore the Titanic cruise ship's 114-year-old buried wreckage.

The Dawood Family, one of Pakistan's wealthiest, posted an invitation to the prayer meeting on their social media sites.

"Please join the Dawood Family, as we pray to thank Allah for His immense blessings and seek His forgiveness for Shahzada Dawood and Suleman Dawood," the message on the invite read.

The prayer for the father and son will be broadcast live on the Dawood Foundation's YouTube account on June 27 at 6:30pm in Pakistan.

The message was attributed to Shahzada's parents, Hussain and Kulsum Dawood.

Suleman was terrified, but agreed due to Father's Day

Aunt of the teen on Titanic sub said he went because it was Father's Day but was "terrified”.

Shahzada's sister, Azmeh Dawood, said her nephew had reservations about travelling with his father. She claimed the kid informed a relative he "wasn't very up for it" and was "terrified," but agreed to join the voyage to appease his father, who had been infatuated with the Titanic since childhood.

"I'm in disbelief. It's an unbelievable circumstance. "I feel like I'm in a bad movie, with a countdown, but you don't know what you're counting down to," she explained. "It's been difficult for me to breathe when I think of them,” she added.
