Ahsan Iqbal says no progress made in Gwadar during PTI’s tenure

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said on Wednesday that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government did not focus on the Gwadar projects.

Presiding over a high-level meeting to review the ongoing CPEC projects in Gwadar, Ahsan Iqbal mentioend that 166,207 metric tons of cargo from 2018 to 2021 and 637,124 metric tons of cargo from 2022 to 2023 anchored at the Gwadar port.

He said 18 projects were completed in the last three months in Gwadar which is a proof that the present government was determined to complete the ongoing projects under CPEC.

Mr Iqbal said that no progress was made in Gwadar in the last four years adding the electricity and water projects which were supposed to be completed in 2018 remained standstill.

The minister stressed that the goals that were set for the development of Gwadar in 2015 were not completed by the PTI government mentioning that a large amount of money was allocated for providing necessary facilities to the people of Balochistan in the recent budget.

He claimed that 18 projects were completed in Gwadar in the last 3 months.
