Students will enjoy a break from June 6, 2023, until August 20, 2023

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Punjab Department of School Education on Wednesday officially declared the dates for the upcoming summer vacations, affecting both government and private schools. As per the notification released by the secretary of school education, students will enjoy a break from June 6, 2023, until August 20, 2023.

This announcement has sparked a disagreement between the government and private school sectors. President of the Private School Association, Kashif Mirza, expressed concerns regarding the proposed dates for private schools, stating that their holidays will commence from June 15.

Mr Mirza argued that private schools follow a syllabus calendar of 240 days, and they cannot afford to grant holidays starting from June 6. He highlighted the fact that examinations are scheduled in schools until June 15, making it impossible to accommodate the earlier suggested vacation period.

"If necessary, we will take the matter to court," asserted Mr Mirza, emphasising the private school sector's determination to uphold their academic obligations while protecting the interests of their students and faculty.
