LAHORE (Web Desk) – The alleged Jinnah House attack prime suspect, Khadija Shah, says she is going to surrender to the authorities.
Daughter of former finance minister Salman Shah is accused of leading the attack on Lahore Corps Commander's House - also known as Jinnah House - during the May 9 mayhem.
Khadija Shah said she was a ‘supporter’ of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and she had been in hiding since launch of the crackdown by the authorities to arrest those involved in ransacking public and military installations following party chairman Imran Khan's arrest in a graft case.
In an alleged audio message that emerged on social media, Khadija said she was going to turn herself in to police. She said she had taken the decision because the last five days proved very tough for her. In over 16 minutes long audio message, she said she was a PTI supporter and part of the protest outside the Lahore Corps Commander's House but denied committing any wrongdoing including inciting people to violence.
She said the authorities barged into her house at midnight and abducted her husband and father. She said they roughed up her husband in front of her children. The house workers were also subjected to torture, she claimed.
The PTI supporter went on to say she did not violate any law or Constitution of the country and added that she participated in many PTI protests for the last one year.
She also disclosed that she was a dual citizen and trying to get help from the embassy.
She accused provincial authorities of victimising her and her family. She said she was neither an office-bearer nor a worker of the PTI and her protest was in individual capacity.
She said she and Andleeb Abbas tried to stop protesters from ransacking Jinnah House but the crowd did not listen to them. She said she did not cross the barricade of Jinnah House and incite anyone to violence.
