CM Naqvi orders to reopen Data Darbar parking

Darbar parking was closed since 2010 for security reasons

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, ordered the immediate reopening of the parking lot of Data Darbar, which had been closed for the past 13 years.

The Chief Minister (CM) Naqvi took this step towards facilitating pilgrims to visit Data Darbar.

In a meeting held at the CM office Thursday, various authorities including the Provincial Minister of Auqaf, Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, and related officers participated to discuss provisions for visitors and parking at Data Darbar.

It was briefed to CM Naqvi that authorities will be allowing only small vehicles of visitors to enter while forbidding loaders and trucks from entering. Additionally, a monitoring system will be established in the parking lot through the installation of the latest security and surveillance equipment. Mohsin Naqvi stressed that the reopening of the parking lot is for the convenience of pilgrims and to soothe traffic congestion.

To ensure the safety of pedestrians, a separate footpath will be designated for those going on foot to Data Darbar.
