PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Pakistan Baitul-Mal, the government agency responsible for providing social welfare services, ordered the closure of eight shelters (Pnahgah) established during the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

The decision was made official on Thursday, with an order sent out to all districts in the country.

The order also included the dismissal of 36 employees working at the shelters.

It is unclear what would happen to the employees after the shelters are closed.

In Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, three shelters have been ordered to be closed after the last Iftar of Ramadan.

The shelters were established during the PTI government's tenure to provide food and shelter to the homeless and disadvantaged. However, the government has now deemed the shelters to be unnecessary and has ordered their closure.
