CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary has said objective of Bench and Bar is administration of justice.

They always welcome the criticism from Bar and other segments for improvements in our functioning.Chief Justice of Pakistan said this while speaking to a 21-member delegation of Executive Members of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) which called on him in the headship of its President, Asma Jehangir, at the Supreme Court Building.The Chief Justice said on account of the dedication and selflessness of President Supreme Court Bar and legal fraternity, the Bench achieved many milestones and ensured rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution. “The way forward for the nation is to strictly follow the Constitution. Advocates of Supreme Court as well as High Courts have always cooperated with judiciary resulting into increased disposal,” he added.Iftikhar Chaudhary also admired the services rendered by the office bearers and President of the SCBA, his lordship said “your tenure is about to end but you have contributed a lot for the institution which will always be remembered. We are making all out efforts for disposal of cases which can only be done with the cooperation of the Bar because the objective of both of us.Commenting on the long standing demands of the lawyers appearing in the Supreme Court regarding absence of appropriate accommodation in the Capital, the CJP appreciated the fact that a breakthrough in this regard has been achieved.The SCBA President has been able to not only get an appropriate piece of land to build an accommodation but also sufficient funds have been collected, he said while lauding the efforts of the Asma Jehangir for achieving this milestone and expressed his satisfaction that under the overall technical assistance of Mr Nayyar Ali Dada, the Bar will be able to erect a building which will not only cover the accommodation requirements of the learned lawyers of the apex Court but will also add to the dignity of the highest Bar of the country.The members of Supreme Court Bar Association suggested that a Committee may be constituted comprising outgoing President and General Secretary, incoming Presidents and General Secretaries and two prominent senior lawyers to oversee the completion of the project which may be headed by a Judge of Supreme Court of Pakistan to be nominated by Chief Justice.They further discussed many issues relating to working of the apex Court. The CJP directed the Supreme Court Administration to carry out necessary changes for improving the output of the court and providing relief to the learned lawyers as well as to the litigants.Asma Jehangir appreciated the efforts on part of the Chief Justice to provide the relief to people who have great expectation with the judiciary.She reiterated commitment and dedication for the cause of independent and functional judicial system in the country.
