ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) decided not to write letters for the provision of security and funds to Punjab's interim government for the upcoming elections.
The decision was made during an important consultative meeting held on Thursday in Islamabad.
According to the ECP, the decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan was clear and comprehensive, and therefore, no letters would be written to the Punjab government and finance ministry.
The ECP further added that the instructions for the finance ministry, chief secretary, and Punjab IG were clear in the SC's decision.
The Supreme Court had directed the finance ministry to provide funds directly, said ECP.
The ECP also said that the chief secretary and Punjab IG would give the self-management and security plan to the election commission.
The reports of the finance ministry and caretaker Punjab government would be submitted to the SC by the ECP's legal team, the commission said.
