Principal secretary of ex-CM Elahi granted bail

LAHORE (Dunya News) – An anti-corruption court on Wednesday granted bail to Muhammad Khan Bhatti, the principal secretary to former chief minister Parvez Elahi.

During the proceedings, Judge Ali Raza asked counsel Amjad Parvez of the accused that how much corruption he had committed.

He replied that the prosecution accused his client of Rs80 crore corruption.

He said that the story of the prosecution was based on assumptions. There was no evidence of bungling. This a politically motivated case, he added.

The court accepted the bail and ordered to submit two bail bonds worth half a million rupees each.

Meanwhlie, five accused involved in the case were also presented before the anti-corruption court, which extended their interim bail till April 5. The court ordered the anti-corruption authorities to complete and submit the investigation report by next date of hearing.

The five are accused of bribing Muhammad Khan Bhatti for their appointment to the post of their choice and financial bungling worth billions of rupees in development projects.
