Sit-in will be staged at K-Electric headquarters if power is not restored, Saeed Ghani

KARACHI (Dunya News) - A demonstration against K-Electric for the protracted power outage was conducted in Karachi. The demonstration caused several hours  worth of traffic delays.

The power outage at Karachi s Mehmoodabad Kala Bridge sparked a seven-hour protest. The demonstration caused the route from Kala Bridge to Defense to be closed to traffic in both directions.

Saeed Ghani, the provincial minister and the leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), criticised K-Electric for closing multiple electricity feeders in the district.

He said that a sit-in will be staged at the K-Electric headquarters if the power will not be restored.

On the other side, K-Electric representatives said that electricity was cut off at Chensar Goth and Masoom Shah Colony owing to non-payment. The locations that need to be disconnected have Rs39.75 crore in unpaid arrears.
