IHC to hear plea against Imran’s acquittal in Parliament attack case on Jan 9

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday decided to take up a plea filed by the federal government against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and other PTI leaders’ acquittal in Parliament attack case on Jan 9.

The IHC bench comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan will hear the plea.

The federation, in its petition, had challenged the anti-terrorism court’s (ATC) verdict which acquitted the PTI chief and others in the case. The plea stated that ATC’s verdict was in violation of the constitution and the trial court took the decision in haste as it did not record the statements of the eye-witnesses.

The petition further stated that there were enough documentary and video evidence available to prove that PTI Chief Imran Khan had committed a crime by launching an attack on the Parliament, therefore, acquittal should be annulled.
