JI rules out to be part of MQM-P’s protest drive

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Jamat-e-Islami (JI) on Wednesday refused to become a part of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s protest drive against the delimitation of constituencies in the city.

Sources told that JI Karachi president Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman sidelined the possibility of taking part in the protest drive and shifted his focus to stage-in outside Sindh Chief Minister House and party s gathering on Jan 8.

Mr Rehman asked MQM-P’s Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui would the MQM-P quit the provincial assembly if its demands were not met. Mr Siddiqui replied the party would look into the possibility later. Mr Rehman said it seemed neither the MQM-P was serious in its demands nor it had plan B.

Upon Mr Rehman’s suggestion that the MQM-P should not sit on the treasury benches if its demands were not met, Mr Siddiqui replied that some [difficult] decisions were meant to be taken.

Earlier, the MQM-P had announced to take to streets against the delimitation of constituencies in the city ahead of local government elections.
