Mansoor Usman becomes Attorney General of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - President Arif Alvi on Friday approved the appointment of Mansoor Usman as Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP).

He has replaced Ashtar Ausaf Ali who resigned from the post on medical grounds in October last. The president has approved his resignation.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved Mr Usman’s name for the post. The development comes as a political crisis is brewing in Punjab where Governor Balighur Rehman has denotified Chaudhry Parvez Elahi as Punjab chief minister.

Mr Elahi has challenged his denotification in the Lahore High Court (LHC), arguing that the governor had not written any letter to him about the vote of confidence.
