CJP summons Judicial Commission meeting to appoint new SC judges

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Umar Ata Bandial has summoned the Judicial Commission meeting on October 24 to appoint new judges in the Supreme Court, Dunya News reported on Thursday.

The Judicial Commission meeting will be presided over by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial in which names of the high court judges will be considered to be appointed as judges in the Supreme Court.

The CJP has recommended four names of high court judges including Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Athar Minallah, Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Shahid Waheed, Sindh High Court (SHC) Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Shafi Siddiqui for appointment as judges in the Supreme Court.

Earlier on July 28, the Judicial Commission had considered names of Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Qaiser Rasheed, Lahore High Court Justice Shahid Waheed, Sindh High Court Justice Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Shafi Shafi Siddiqui and Justice Naimat for appointment as SC judges.
