Repute of SHC judges tarnished, Justice Sajjad Ali pens letter to CJP

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News)- Justice Sajjad Ali Shah on Thursday said that the repute of Sindh High Court (SHC) judges has tarnished by the objections raised on the integrity by a fellow judge.

Writing a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial over the appointment of the five new judges in the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP), Justice Sajjad urged CJP Umar Ata Bandial to take steps to overturn any damage to their repute,

Justice Sajjad Ali Shah said in the letter that in the previous meeting of the Judicial Commission, the role of judges recommended from Sindh was questioned by relying on the opinion of two lawyers from Sindh, which is regrettable.

“I say with full confidence that I have no doubt over the prestige of the recommended SHC judges,” Justice Sajjad said.
Sajjad said two of the former chief judges of SHC are members of the judicial commission, while the two SC judges also belonged to SHC.

Justice Sajjad also said that during the judicial commission meeting, when one of the judges has requested to take back the names of the nominated judges, then the Attorney General had only asked to postpone the meeting.

“I am retiring on this month, due to which I could not attended the next meeting of the judicial commission", said Justice Sajjad.
