CJP takes suo motu notice of govt's interference in investigative institutions
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial on Wednesday took notice of the government’s interference in the investigative agencies.
The hearing of the suo motu notice taken by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial will be held on Thursday and a five-member comprises Justice Ejaz-ul-Haq, Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar. large bench headed by the Chief Justice will hear the case.
“The honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr Justice Umar Ata Bandial has taken suo motu notice, on the recommendations of an honourable judge of Supreme Court of Pakistan, of perceived interference in the independence of prosecution branch in performance of its powers and duties for the investigation and prosecution of pending criminal matters involving persons in authority in the government today,” stated in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the apex court.
