Wanted banned TTP terrorist Khorasani killed in Afghanistan

NANGARHAR (Dunya News) – Wanted notorious terrorist of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Muhammad Khorasani has been killed in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province.

Terrorist Mohammad Khorasani was the spokesman of outlawed TTP whose real name was Khalid Balti.

The slain Khorasani was running a terrorist center in Miranshah and fled to Afghanistan after the success of Operation Zarb-e-Azb, while he became the spokesman for the banned TTP after Shahidullah Shahid.

He was involved in killing of innocent Pakistanis and operations against security forces.

The TTP spokesperson while trying to reunite various factions of the proscribed outfit was planning to carry out terrorist operations against Pakistan along with chief Mufti Noor Wali Mehsud.

He had also hinted at carrying out terrorist activities inside Pakistan.

Operation against TTP

DG ISPR Major Geneal Babar Iftikhar last week told the media that an operation was underway against the banned organisation. He said that negotiations had been started with the TTP at the request of incumbent Afghan government but some things were unacceptable.

“The banned organization is a non-state element which could not carry out any major attack in Pakistan,” he said and added it also has internal differences, while the Afghan government has been asked not to allow its territory to be used against us.

Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar went on to say that the Afghan government offered the option of bringing the TTP to the table and persuading them to meet Pakistan s demands.

Pakistan in talks with some factions of proscribed TTP

In an exclusive interview with TRT World in October last year, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that his government was holding disarmament talks with some factions of the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

He said that the Afghan Taliban had been assisting the negotiations, however, nothing could be said on the success of the talks at this time.

“I think some Taliban factions want to talk to the government for peace and reconciliation and we are in contact with some of these factions,” Imran Khan said.

To a question regarding the talks, the prime minister said that the dialogues are about reconciliation process and if successful, will lead to the government "forgiving" them, "and then they become normal citizens".

Imran Khan said, "I am not in favor of a military solution to the issues and also hopeful of an agreement, however, talks with the Taliban may not be fruitful, but we are talking."
