Local govt system in Punjab likely to change once again

LAHORE (Dunya News) – With the proposal to formally revive the Town Committees and Municipal Committees came up, the local government system is once again likely to change.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) presented preliminary amendments in the local body system of Punjab in the meeting of the standing committee of Punjab Assembly. The PML-N proposed restoration of town committees and municipal committees in the local body system.

PML-N will also present more amendments in the next meeting of the standing committee. Town committees and municipal committees were abolished in the ordinance of the Punjab government.

PML-N proposed to make meeting town committees and municipal committees a part of local body system while many members of PTI were also in favor of revival of these committees.
